LSBC Request for Review Follow Up

If you want to know what the Law Society of BC's response was to many requests for review of their decision to "close the file", here is your chance.

See my previous post here: 2021 11 26 LSBC Request for a Review

This is what the LSBC website (request form and information sheet) said in November 2021 about who, when and how to request a review: 2021 Information Complainants' Review Committee

Fourth Anniversary Message

Today marks four years from the day the reality that Michael Geldert and the legal team he retained (with our money) failed and betrayed us all.

Now we are experiencing that same failure and betrayal by the very association that is "suppose" to: . . . regulate the legal profession in BC, protecting the public interest in the administration of justice by setting and enforcing standards of professional conduct for lawyers.

The response we have received by the Law Society of BC and their decision to "close the file" and now denied numerous requests for a review of that decision may be triggering some very intense feelings.

Rather than producing a new video, I am sharing the one I did back in April 2018 as I believe it is still very apropos.

You are not alone and we are not done yet.

Law Society of BC Request for Review

I am requesting a review of the Law Society of BC's decision to close the file #20180071 regarding Michael Geldert and Geldert Law.

In the correspondence dated November 2nd, 2021 from Sarah Conroy, Director, Intake & Early Resolution and Practice Standards, she states that the file is now closed, however it does not give any reason why the file is closed with no disciplinary action taken directly related to the above mentioned file.

She also states that this investigation raised some concerns about Mr. Geldert's standards of practice. She goes on to say that the Practice Standards Committee has considered the matter and ordered a practice review to be conducted by another lawyer - the reviewing lawyer.

I was contacted by Mr. David Butcher who said "I have been appointed by the Law Society of British Columbia as the investigator into your complaint, and many others, into the conduct of Mr. Geldert in the Sunchaser/Northmont litigation."

Did Mr. Butcher not find any violations regarding how Mr. Geldert handled this particular file? A file that not only were there numerous complaints filed with detailed information, some actually pointing out the various Codes of Professional Conduct which Mr. Geldert breached, but took close to 4 years to investigate? Why is Mr. Geldert not being disciplined?

Ms Conroy also states "If you have remaining concerns about the Law Society's processes or investigation of this complaint, visit the Ombudsperson's website. . ." Ms Conroy neglects to inform us of the Complainants' Review Committee.

I am requesting a review of this file by the Law Society's Complainants' Review Committee.

I am also requesting any and all documents, reports and/or correspondence that I am entitled to receive to be provided.

From everything I have read the Law Society's mandate is to protect the public not the lawyers.
